we are not alone

i was in mother's market yesterday, stopping by after work. two older gentlemen (late 70's, early 80's if i had to guess, and i am being generous) were waiting in line...one said to me, "what's that white outfit for?" i told him i am a server at a restaurant....and he responded with "well, it looks nice." that's perhaps the first (and last) sincere compliment i've gotten on my work uniform.
then the other gentleman, said to me, "many years ago, i lived in new york. i worked as a waiter at a restaurant and i was also an actor. but i spent a lot more time waiting tables than i did acting!" then, he erupted in laughter.
i told him...i feel the same way.
it's amazing the people we meet along life's path who just in a passing conversation can remind us that we are not alone.
that little old man was my angel yesterday.
